To replace our old Camberley 41 Club website, here is our first Monthly Newsletter, which will bring you reports of the previous month's activities, news, fun photos, important Council and Committee decisions, member profiles, fundraising achievements and anything else worth knowing.
It will help those who couldn't attend a dinner meeting or social event see what they missed — and show upcoming events to add to the diary, forewarn the family and alert the guests you plan to invite.

Our favourite lecturer Tim Bean, from the RMA Sandhurst, gave a fascinating after-dinner talk at Camberley Heath Golf Club, updating us on the ebbs and flows of the Ukrainian defence against the Russian invaders. Drone warfare was of key interest.
A photo-filled talk on the history of the Watercress Line, its current status and future challenges. Tony — an ex Camberley Round Tabler — is these days too busy operating signal boxes and learning to drive steam trains to attend 41 Club, but he is welcome any time.

Maybe the biggest news of the month — the Camberley B team took a third consecutive victory at the Annual Region Golf Day at the Downshire on 23 June. The Camberley A Team came second, vanquishing teams from Egham, Ascot and Fleet.

On 6th July, John Devlin arranged an outing to The Spike — a workhouse established in 1838 to help the forgotten classes of Victorian England: the poor, the infirm, the ill, and the destitute.
A few of us stepped into the cells to experience what life might have been like for those who had no choice but to rely on the services it provided — and were pleased to leave safely afterwards to enjoy cream tea with scones and jam. The undesirables amongst us were lucky to escape.

After a spirited debate, members voted at the 22 June meeting on our chosen charities for 2026 — and, because these have been supported for five years, we've committed to selecting new local good causes for next year.
Last month the Fundraising Committee managed to ship the old Float Generator to Ukraine, where it has been repaired and is back in full use — helping in the battle against power shortages caused by continuing Russian attacks.

Wife of Hugh Osborne. Mary was a member of Ladies Circle and Tangent for over 40 years, and at various times Chair of both. A lovely person who will be long remembered.
A Tabler and 41 Clubber with 50 years of service. Bill resigned from 41 Club a few years ago due to ill-health. His career as a GP made him a dedicated fundraiser — Bill could always be relied upon to shake a can on every occasion.
Mike is struggling with an illness that has seen him admitted to hospital on several occasions in recent weeks. We are giving him a great deal of practical and personal support as he fights on.
